Just what are these clubs?  The Interact (High School) and Rotaract (College) are models of Rotary, an opportunity for students to learn leadership and community involvement.  RYLA is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary Clubs here on the Big Island where high school students develop their skills as leaders while having fun and making connections. It's an intensive weekend developing our future community, national and international leaders of tomorrow.

SPECIAL SALUTE TO COACH JIMMY YAGE

Honoring our 51 year Member, Jimmy Yagi
Our February 3rd's noon-time meeting was a celebration of our distinguished member Coach Jimmy Yagi's 51 years in our Rotary Club! Former Club Members Tom Brown and Eric Yoshimura along with
current Club Member Pat Guillen, UH-Hilo's Athletic Director recounted Coach Jimmy's long career and amazing biography.  A humorous Power Point of "Jimmy Through the Years" was presented by Tom Brown, starting with photos of young Jimmy, Jimmy in high school and in college. Moving on to all Jimmy's numerous accomplishments, Tom spoke about Coach's worldwide basketball camps, not only here in Hilo, but also in Japan, China, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy. Jimmy was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Randy Hart, current Club President.  Jimmy shared that his mother often told him that "to succeed you cannot do it by yourself -- you need the help of others, and you need to help others."
