August 27 - Volcano Winery
Our club joined with other Rotary Clubs for a fun afternoon of wine tasting and... yes, barbeque! A great way to spend a casual Sunday afternoon.

We're Out and About In August!
August 6 ~ Memorial Flowers sent to Hiroshima as a token of goodwill and friendship
Since 1971, our club has sent flowers for the Cenotaph at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in remembrance of the 1945 bombing of Hiroshima.

August 19 ~ Helping at the Volcano Run
Aid stations are an important part of any run, and we were there to help out in Volcano!

August 19 ~ Hitomi Gilliam Bamboo Prep
Queen Lili’uokalani’s birthday is coming up and large floral arrangements are going to need prepared bamboo.  Club members are helping out!

August 19 ~ Helping our fellow Rotarians
with a big painting project at the Hawaii Island Home for Recovery
“Many Hands” make the work go quickly, especially when you are painting!

Our Youth are Important!
August 4 ~ “STEM” Student Akil Marshall
Akil tells us how our club is advancing STEM education by co-sponsoring NexTech STEM workshops for Hawaii Island Youth.

An Interesting Presentation at our Meeting
August 18 ~ Club member Chris Tamm shares slides of his trip to Borneo
Seen here is the unusual “upside down house” that is only one of several strange upside down life-size items found in Borneo!
